At that point the family provided rail ties to the new Norfolk & Western line, which was being constructed at that point of time. On completion of the railway line in 1892, the Bassette commenced searching for newer pastures to provide their lumber products. At that point the famed J. D. - John David of the Bassette family was touring around showcasing the family’s lumber samples. He then gained a large order for a coffin making company in Winston - Salem. After his long and tedious touring he returned home with good news for the family, having found that the furniture industry was expanding like never before, which was bringing about an increase in the demand for raw lumber. This is when Bassette Furniture actually found its base, having gained a large number of orders in the first year of its inception. Steadily they moved from supplying raw lumber to creating their own furniture line. He informed the rest of the family that the money they make from selling raw lumber is negligible in comparison to the amount they can earn if they produce furniture. And making furniture just needs a little skill in designing and crafting.
Thus, in 1902 the Bassette Furniture Company was given birth too. At that point the company had a staff strength of only 50 men, which expanded as time went by. Over time they began to manufacture furniture to serve any need. This included the beds, showcases, tables, chairs, wardrobes, etc.
This range of furniture comes in numerous styles and colors. In fact one can do up the baby’s room in any which way that they desire. The furniture is not bulky at all, and yet comfortable and large in enough to stack everything away neatly.
