copper bracelets

Copper is a reddish-brown metal, which is ductile and malleable making it easy to carve into any shape or size. Though it is not a precious metal, yet it is available as an ornament in India, as well as in other countries. Usually young boys and girls are seen wearing copper bracelets. These ornaments are also available outside temples in India.

This metal is softer than iron and harder than zinc. Since it has low chemical reactivity it is safe to wear. It is also used as a cooking utensil, making food cooked in it safe. Copper is also known to have some healing properties. People suffering from diabetes or blood pressure are recommended to drink water in a copper glass. Ideally they should fill the glass with water and keep it overnight, drinking it the next morning. Many people going through a tough period in life are asked to wear copper bracelets or then rings made of copper.

Whether a fashion accessory or a religious or astrological prescription, copper jewelry does look attractive. This is because of its color. Apart from that copper is easy to maintain, and one need not worry about it getting damaged in water. This is because in moist air instead of rusting, it gradually forms a greenish protective film called patina. This coating protects the metal from further attack.

Copper bracelets can be adorned with gemstones or can be carved into various shapes joint together with copper hooks. Some wear bracelets made of copper with their names embossed on it. These bracelets could be in the form of a thick chain, or it could be something dainty, depending on the wearer.
