There are various items used for joining two objects together that
include rope, cables, chains, etc. But, they are not categorized as
fasteners since they maybe put to multiple other purposes beyond
fastening objects together. Apart from the devices there are varied
methods of joining objects, which include crimping, welding, soldering,
brazing, taping, gluing, cementing, etc. However, According to the
dictionary, a fastener is a hardware device that mechanically joins or
affixes two or more objects together. The actual fasteners are the nuts,
bolts, screws, etc. Stainless steel fasteners include bolts, screws, cap screws, studs, buckles, clamps, clasps, clip, nails, pegs, pins, rivets, retaining rings, staple pins, paper clips, zippers, etc. These fasteners are used in industries, offices and in households. In fact most carpenters and plumbers prefer stainless steel fasteners. Fasteners of this metal are cost effective. You can avail of fasteners that are required to put household furniture together as well as the larger tougher ones used in constructing aircrafts and the railways. Since this metal is anti-corrosive and anti-erosive, it is easier to maintain. Usually lower grade, tougher and stronger stainless steel is used to create fasteners. They also do not rust. Over a period object fastened together need repair and therefore, may need to be opened. Fasteners of other metals tend to rust over a period of time and this may cause difficulty in opening the bolt or screw. In the case of these, there is not much difficulty and the same bolt or screw can be re-used.
