stainless steel sinks

Stainless steel is a relatively new invention in the world of metals. While its original form was discovered a long time ago, stainless steel is said to have been invented as late as 1912. Basically, this modification of steel consists of at least 10.5% chromium. The addition of chromium makes this metal highly corrosion resistant, as well as aesthetically presentable. In the initial stages the metal was only used for industrial reason. Between 1919 and 1923 the production of stainless steel household products commenced.

One of the kitchen and bathroom marvels of the early part of the last century was that of stainless steel sinks. Initially sinks were made from other metals that would rust over a period of time. Or then they would have sharp-edged finishing that would cause injuries. These sinks were not only safe, but also better looking than the earlier ones.

Stainless steel sinks are till date used in hospitals, especially in the operations theater. This is because this metal resists corrosion in atmospheric and pure water environments. Another important factor is hygiene. It can be easily cleaned to its stainless state, thus preventing any possibility of germs, especially during surgeries when the tools need to be sterilized continuously.

From the aesthetic perspective stainless steel sinks are bright. It is easy to maintain surface gives a modern and attractive appearance. Another benefit of stainless steel washbasin is its life cycle. Being a strong metal that is highly erosion and corrosion resistant it lasts far longer than any other metal. This makes it a cost-effective long-term investment. In fact these sinks do cost less than the others available. ~ author Karishma Bajaj
