A suncatcher is an artistic object that is hung in those places at home
or at the office or in the car, where it can capture the rays of the
sun. These maybe made on a plastic sheet or on glass. The most commonly hung suncatchers are the stained glass suncatchers. These are available in many shops selling various artifacts. Otherwise many people make their own at home. This is a simple object to make as long as you are artistically inclined. In India, many ladies make stained glass suncatchers as a hobby. Some even teach how to make these objects. All you need is a thick sheet of glass cut into the shape and size you desire. Since it has to be hung, it is ideal to make the hole initially. To create something different you could get the glass cut into a circle or semi-circle, or maybe a hexagon. Then you need the pattern, glass paint, lead came, pieces of glass, a glass etcher, a glasscutter and some paintbrushes. The process to be followed is simple. First you need to trace the pattern onto the glass. Then using the lead came make the outlines. Fill these with the glass paint and finally places the pieces of glass. While, it is simple to create, it does require a lot of effort and patience. You must be careful when cutting the glass pieces in the shapes and sizes as per requirement. One important thing to keep in mind is that when working on glass, it should be absolutely dust-free, otherwise the effect would be something disastrous.
