One of the famous Croatian movies that was called Road a Year Long (La strada lunga un anno) and was directed by Giuseppe De Santis had been filmed in 1958 in the area of Sitno. This movie proved to be the first to be nominated for an Award in Best Foreign Movie category.

The setting of the movie was a secluded mountain village and the movie aimed at depicting the life of a few families and individuals in the secluded mountain village. The story of the movie revolves around the incidence of the attempt of the inhabitants of the village to construct a new road, which they think is their only connection with the outside world.

The villagers decide to make this road with their own hands. The construction of this road prolongs through an entire year and ensue in this year many love and social stories between the main characters of the movie.

Atomic War Bride is yet another very famous Croatian Movie. It traces the simple story of a couple. The couple’s plans for marriage are greatly inconvenienced by the impending nuclear war. This movie has a huge dose of satire and makes strong statements about the inefficiency of the government and military authorities.
