Telugu Movies have recently seen some dramatic changes over its 70 years of history. It has been more like rising and falling of hopes. Most times a lean period is followed by a revival. The industry is moving in tandem with the ever-changing technological progress. The predominant choice by most producers turned out to be the ever-popular theme of a love story. This trend began with the Telugu Movie PREMADESAM that was screened three years ago. This movie is a Telugu dubbing of a Tamil Movie that also had become a hit and had eventually run for more than two hundred days. The story line traced by the movie followed the theme where two boys love the same girl and end up with all the three deciding to maintain the friendship in status quo. It has been since this movie that the trend of love themes has practically flooded the Telugu Movie screen.

Another feature that is prominent in the Telugu Movie Industry is the emergence of family legacy with most of the senior artistes introducing their juniors to the field. However, the fact cannot be denied that it is a fair fight of survival for all. This phenomenon is no novel to Telugu Movies. Hindi, Tamil and other Indian language films too follow this trend.

Of course what cannot go without a mentions is the strong emergence of young talent among directors of the Telugu Movies. The long time directors are giving way to fresh talent, who are donned with new ideas and highly equipped with the mental facilities. The Telugu Movie scene is also heavily importing Tamil directors along with subjects. This phenomenon is particularly noticed during the last three years.

This brings us back to the discussion generated at the onset of this article on Telugu Movies. The Telugu Movie industry is greatly worried over the continuing decline of quality and also quantity of Telugu Movies and their poor performance at box office. And hence the Telugu Movie Industry has been making constant demands on the government to waive the entertainment tax.
