ColdFusion Server in Windows

There are two ColdFusion products

  • ColdFusion Server Professional
  • ColdFusion Server Enterprise

Now to install ColdFusion Server in Windows, basic system requirements are needed.

  • Windows 98 supports only Professional version not Enterprise version
  • Windows NT & Windows 200 supports both professional and Enterprise ColdFusion Server.
  • The processor required is Pentium
  • Minimum RAM for Professional is 128 and 256 for Enterprise
  • HardDisk space for Professional is 200MB and 400 MB for Enterprise
  • The Web Server IIS 4.0, 5.0 for both versions.
  • Apache Server 1.3x, WebSite Server API, iPlanet Server and O’Reailly Website Professional 2.0,3.0 are all supports for both versions (Professional & Enterprise).

Before installing the ColdFusion Server in windows the Service Pack should be installed.

  • Windows 98 need Service Pack 1
  • Windows NT need Service Pack 6a and SNMP
  • Windows 2000 need Service Pack 1 and SNMP

ColdFusion Server 5 Enterprise Edition accesses the managed data through the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

ColdFusion Server in Linux

The system requirements for Linux to install ColdFusion Server are

  • Red Hat Linux 6.2 and later* supports both Professional & Enterprise version
  • SuSE Linux 7.0 and later* also supports both the versions
  • Cobalt RAQ3, RAQ4, XTR* accept Professional & Enterprise
  • Processor required is Pentium
  • Minimum RAM for Professional is 128 MB and 256 for Enterprise
  • Harddisk space 200MB for Professional and Enterprise require 350 MB
  • For both the version the WebServers are iPlanet and Apache Server 1.3x

To start and stop ColdFusion Server provides two scripts manually in Linux

/opt/coldfusion/bin/start

/opt/coldfusion/bin/stop

For starting and stopping ClusterCATS and the Application Manager, ColdFusion Application Manager provides two scripts

/opt /coldfusion/bin/cfam-start

/opt/coldfusion/bin/cfam-stop

ColdFusion Server in Solaris

The system requirements for the ColdFusion Server Enterprise Edition are given below.

  • Solaris 2,6,7,8
  • Processor is SPARC
  • Minimum RAM is 256 MB
  • 350 MB Hard Disk space
  • iPlanet and Apache Server 1.3* Web Server

ColdFusion Server provides two scripts for starting and stopping ColdFusion Server processes manually in Solaris:

/opt/coldfusion/bin/start

/opt/coldfusion/bin/stop

 In addition, ColdFusion Application Manager provides two scripts for starting and stopping ClusterCATS and the Application Manager:

/opt/coldfusion/bin/cfam-start

/opt/coldfusion/bin/cfam-stop

ColdFusion Server in HP-UX

The system requirements for the ColdFusion Server Enterprise Edition in HP-UX

  • Requires HP-UX 11.0
  • Hardware PA-RISC1.1or 2.0
  • Minimum RAM 128 MB
  • Hard Disk Space 120 MB
  • Web Server iPlanet and Apache Server 1.3x

ColdFusion Server provides two scripts for starting and stopping ColdFusion Server.

The Processes done manually in HP-UX:

 
/opt/coldfusion/bin/start
/opt/coldfusion/bin/stop

 

ColdFusion Server Administration

After installing the ColdFusion Server some administrative task has to be performed.

To establish database connections, ColdFusion Application require data source connections to query and write to databases.  The Data Source pages are used in Administrator in order to create, delete, verify and modify the database connections.

To specify directory mappings the Mappings page in Administrator helps to redirect relative file paths to physical directories on your server.

The Debug Settings pages of the Administrator Configure debug information and provide important data about CFML page processing.

Mail Logging page of the Administrator is used to configure an email server and mail options.

Security pages of the Administrator help to change or set the password.

Java and Java applets require configuration so JVM page of the Administration manage to configure Java Settings.

Use the Tag Restrictions page of the Administrator to disable certain tags and tag attributes system-wide for security risk for your server.
