get motivated seminars

Get-Motivated Seminars conducted for the employees at the workplace were a management tool, which was very popular in the 1970s and 1980s. These seminars were based on the assumption that the carrot and stick approach was insufficient to induce employees to give 110% to their job. It was felt that internal motivation must be cultivated in the employees somehow.

Get Motivated Seminars are usually conducted by outside consulting firms. These seminars usually employ a variety of techniques that vary from survey questionnaires to group exercises to meditation.

Get-Motivated seminars had become enormously popular since their introduction in the 1950s mostly in sales-related fields, as they presented a real advance over basic reward/punishment schemes, which were based on Theories X and Y or even Frederick W. Taylor's scientific methods. Early attempts at motivating employees through these seminars were not entirely successful. A large number of companies also tried 1960s mind-game systems or Scientology. But this only ended up with resentful employees. By the 1970s, however, these get-motivated seminars conducted by the corporate began to show results.

However, these get-motivated seminars are not universally welcomed. Deeply religious employees and their advocates have always leveled serious accusations against motivational seminars. ~ author Sakina Kadiwala.
