Computer Science consists of
two types of specializations viz. computer software and computer
hardware. There is a variety of Computer Science courses available at
Government as well as Private Schools or Universities. One need not be
highly qualified or exceptional in academic. He can be a Metric pass or
an engineer and either ways he can pursue the course in Computer
Science.
The courses range from
Graphic Designing to CAD to ERP. For those already following a full-time
career, technological advancements have enabled interested candidates to
add an extra qualification through Computer Science Distance Learning.
Various Universities in India offer off-campus Distance
Learning that is conducted as Continuing Education for full-time

Role of the Distance Education Centre
Courses in Computer Science Distance Learning are either purely
Correspondence or Part-time. In case of the latter, theory and practical
classes might be conducted on weekends when most employees are off.
Classes for students staying in distant places can attend the class in
the regional Centers. The mentoring and control of Programmes is
supervised and maintained by the Centre by regular visits and continuous
feedback from students. Study material is provided at regular intervals
in synch with the revised syllabi.
Advantages of an added qualification
IT is a booming field today. Countries like US and Australia are on a
shopping spree for intellectual and deserving candidates with work-ex
and IT skills. In fact a huge number of Computer students have made a
lucrative career abroad. So if a deserving candidate with sufficient
work-ex can manage to earn a Computer Science degree even via Distance
