Wedding ceremonies can take place
anywhere....say at a church, in your own garden, the beach or at the
city hall. This however does not alter the fact that it marks a new
beginning for the bride and groom. The kind of religious service they
choose depends on the kind of beliefs that they have. Beyond all this
however, there are certain aspects that make each ceremony special.
Expressing feelings through the written word and hence personalizing the
emotions of love, joy and mutual respect is one way of making it unique.
This is where wedding ceremony programs come into the picture.
The typical wedding program indicates the wedding date, where and when
the service is to be held, names of the people in the wedding party,
names of the musicians and the titles of the music that are to be played
and of course the name of the officiant who performs the ceremony. It
also informs the guests as to what is happening. This particular point
is of great relevance when there is an inter cultural marriage and no
one understands the ceremony. The details provided in the program will
go a long way in helping the guests understand things that are foreign
to them. A wedding program also affords an opportunity to pay tribute to
friends and relatives who are no more and show gratitude to parents
through a poem or a quotation. Hence it is important that you create a
wedding ceremony program that is so special that everyone will enjoy it.
Any wedding program usually includes what happens during the prelude
(before the wedding) and the processional and also focuses on the main
ceremony and the recessional. These programs are usually handed out only
to the adults or one program for each family.
Wedding ceremony programs can be personalized and made at home. All you
need is some card stock paper of any color, some translucent smooth
paper, a computer with a basic word processor, a printer and some
colored ribbon. First decide in what order the ceremony is going to be
conducted. Get it cleared from the officiant and type it in landscape
mode on the smooth paper. Have a printed pattern on the card stock
paper, which is used as a cover. That way the program looks decorative.
Fold the smooth paper lengthwise and place it the card stock, which is
also folded in the same manner. Punch a couple of holes in the center,
fold and wind a ribbon through the holes and tie both the ends with a
decorative bow. Wow! That was easy, fun to do and customized to your
taste. Remember; don’t forget to retain one program for yourself as a
keepsake.
